Elroy Hull took all three as Burnham Nomads beat league leaders Cippenham Buccaneers
last week. Elroy first beat debutant Muz Sabir 11-4 in the fifth, then eased past
Terry Boxall 3-0 before clinching the match for Nomads in the last set with an 11-8
fifth game defeat of Paul Baker. Paul, unbeaten previously in the season, also succumbed
to Ian Baker who also beat Muz but lost to Terry. After the doubles Buccaneers led
4-3 and must have been confident of clinching the match. Nomads had other ideas and
won all of the last three sets in the fifth game. Ian’s victory over Muz was 8 in
the fifth, followed by Dave Hyder beating Terry 11-7 in the fifth and then finally
Elroy’s clincher over Paul.
One week earlier Nomads lost 3-7 to Cippenham Rascals. Each of the Nomads players
beat John Lloyd and Dave Hyder only lost 6-11 in the fifth to Steve Dobbins. All
the other sets were determined 3-0 as Rafique Sarhadi demonstrated his class when
losing only 45 points in the evening.
Paul Savage won three as Chalfont maintained second position with a 7-3 win over
Cippenham Scoundrels for whom Armando Borges scored twice. Rascals, not surprisingly,
beat Burnham Lions 8-2 with Rafique Sarhadi and Steve Dobbins untroubled but Peter
Gajdus lost to both Keith Bucknell and Neville Stanton after having beaten Lions’
number one Derek Husbands.
Cippenham Outlaws beat Cippenham Scoundrels 10-0 yesterday with Anthony Gardner doing
well to come back from two games down against William Tint. Terry Osborne and Graham
Trimming were untroubled for Outlaws.
